The false hopes and dreams of the states
America's prejudiced ways,selfishness and standards
affect the way people, especially immigrants/foreign people, are treated in
america.America  is known for great things such as their economic
system, innovations, war ,hollywood etc ,but are also has a background being
known for racial, prejudice ,sexist and judgemental ways.In america woman aren't
giving leadership/management  roles.Woman are also overlooked when it comes
to working heavily lifting jobs such as construction because it's considered to
masculine,People are also denied job roles based on their racial and ethnic
groups.
Standardize english in america
People who don't speak American standard english are
judged in america .In America  you expected to know and speak standard
“proper” english which usually consider “white people dialect” .People who don't
speak “white people dialect” are usually stereotyped my being deemed and stuff
such as beeing dunce in other words less smart and even having less value in
the american society pyramid. This not only change how people are viewed
socially but even when it comes to getting a job/career ,being spokesperson and
etc. Even though america is known for

Racial  problems   among race, ethnic groups and
immigrants/foreigners.

In America people are judged by race , ethnic grouping and citizen
status.Non pure  european descent people and people who immigrated to
america are judged bullied and reminded by americans as a whole how different
they are.Words such as african booty scratcher, border passer, watermelon eater
etc are used against people who don't fit the “ideal american” standard. These
discriminative words are offensive and cause immigrants to go through said
depression state even causing some to drop their true identity their culture and
become americanized just so they can avoid discrimination.People also feel
uncomfortable shopping ,working and being outside in general. Its well known that
non white americans are negatively stereotype where ever they go.Black
american are usually stereotype as robbers ,killings and anything that has to deal
with violence. Immigrants are often told to go back to their countries and aren't
treated/concerned and even are stopped from becoming citizens.Sometimes
immigrants are often deported.Black americans are even often innocently  killed
for who they are.Altogether they get unfair treatment and are considered less
than equal to white americans and  undeserving of freedom and choice of living
happy in america.Studies show that 70% of the 2,000 people immigrants

experienced discrimination in the workplace due to skin color or accent. 65% of people
who took that survey felt they would be prevented from gaining legal U.S. immigration
status if they used government benefits, such as income assistance, housing aid, health
care and food programs. They are also often stopped by the police unlawfully and
accused of crimes they didn't commit.According to Pew Research 2019 report  56% of
people witness black people don’t bring able to get ahead in life due to their race and
51% when it comes to immigrants

Americas sexist society

All around the world  gender roles are in place. These gender
roles are toxic and have very sexist meanings to it .Both men and women have
experienced this .These sexist experiences happen at workplaces, law
enforcement /court ,schools and even social events. Itis stated that “ 42% of
women have faced gender discrimination at work. Women earn 17.6% less than
men. 23% of women are considered incompetent due to their gender” which is
every 4 to  10 working woman. The use of misogynist language is commonplace
in schools. 66% of female students and 37% of male students in mixed-sex sixth
forms have experienced or witnessed the use of sexist language in school. 64%
of teachers in mixed-sex secondary schools hear sexist language in school on at
least a weekly basis.”this also place in work forces where woman would get
away with sexually and domestically harassing men and men harassing woman
because they are considered the weak links in society,People are also denied job
opportunities or either teased  about they job thy have due to gender.Men having
been teased for jobs including being a nurse ,nanny, cosmetologist ,manicurist
etc.Woman are often denied and look down upon when it comes to messy and
hard lifting jobs such as carpeting ,farming ,construction worker mechanics etc.A
survey found  11% of men, compared to 6% of women have been reported been
falsely accuse of crime by the opposite sex. There are even times young men have
been assaulted ordont report a sexuall asult because they would be deemed as sof
and not being taking seriously.17% percent is domestic abuse  another 17 % is
child abuse,16% and 11% is others form that have been falsely accused of men by
women.

Dear Ms.Stephanie Zlotnick

While working on my rhetorical assignment I learned a lot . I learned a lot from myself, my
peers and teachers .I already had experience on working on rhetorical arguments since 10 th grade ,so I
didn’t have any problems with this assignment at all.I also use to prefer rhetorical essays over other
types of essays so this was very much easy for me .I didn’t see this assignment as a hassle .

I really enjoyed this doing this essay because we got to make a choose on what we wanted the
main focus of our essay to be based on, the poems we had read in class.Having a choice to choose the
topic we want to write our essay on made having to do the essay less stressful .It was less stressful
because instead of doing the assignment based on a topic chosen by you we had the opportunity to
explore our options and choice what topic /genre fits our interest best. I also liked how you allowed us
to read a couple of poems before assigning our assignment because it helped marinate /spark ideas I
can use that helped me complete my essays .

Group work /communication
I also like the idea you had of us working in groups multiple times to discuss our project with our
peers.I liked that idea since in the past all my English classes I ever had we only had peer review once
for an assignment.Me being able to go over my assignment multiple times with my peer allowed be to
be able to give my own sight on their behave regarding to their work and the same when it came to me.I
also like how you didn’t allow us to work with more that two people in a group setting.Working with
more than two people in a group setting allowed me to be able to have access to more than one
opinion including constructive criticism.Having multiple sources of both constructive criticism / opinion
allowed me to have more than one perspective /advice I didn’t know I needed.

When it came to the Brainstorming activity I didn’t really like that idea. For one I haven’t did
brainstorming activities since elementary school. Two I found the activity unnecessary because I prefer
combine ding all my ideas into one draft ,this way I can picture what I would remove / add to my essay
better .To me brainstorming is time consuming .Maybe me haven’t done brainstorming activities in
over 7 years may have my affect in brain storming but just thinking about it annoys me and gives me
stress .

I also love the fact we all got to choose how we wanted to present our rhetorical argument
other than doing an essay .This idea spiced up the idea of doing the assignment and made it fun with all

the options I got to choose .I was excited to do my assignment as a blog and name it.I also like how I
had an option to do a poster as an extra credit.

During the beginning of this assignment till now I got a better idea understanding on different
ways to write rhetorical argument.I don’t know I could of written the assignment in a blog style .I also
develop better communication skills .I was able to help out classmates that have missed a day .I also
way able to ask different classmate whether i had completed my assignment right ,when I was a lil bit
confused .My classmates helped me with separating one overly long paragraph into two.The triangle
pyramid activity that we did help me be able to separate all information and sight useful information
better. I was able to understand / learn how attitudes towards language ,slang and dialectic through
the readings and through my peers' experience affected them negatively . Overall I love all the
activities we did in class ,they are very helpful and had me a loner willing to participate with all the
other student.
